Stillness…

Stillness is important and mandatory, at some point in our lives we need to encounter it either by choice or by force. It is an element of growth and mostly reflection. It is a path for the next level, next chapter, next season. The world we live in can be quiet busy and fast-paced and so much can pass you by without noticing. I turn to find those moments in my day or intentionally every week preferably weekend (Friday) to reflect on my week. To ponder on my experience, actions, attitude, goals, achievements, and lessons learned in that particular week. This assists me to see where I was good and where to improve, then look at where I errored or came short and realize what to do to correct that and improve. This process allows me to monitor my achievements and plan for steps to be taken. However, this process requires stillness and zoning out from the harshness of a busy lifestyle and not living in the moments due to being consumed by pressures of life.

“The answers you seek never come when the mind is busy, they come when the mind is still.” Leon Brown

This quote is so true and profound. I had found myself encountering so much in the previous year. Most of what was happening I had no hand in it, it was like a deck of cards I was dealt with. I needed to play them wisely. However I tell you when you go through the most your view or your vision can be blurred, the fog might hover on it so much that it might be hard to see the path you travel on. That was happening at that moment in my life. I consciously had to decide to be STILL and allow my mind to slow everything down. I had to put everything down and look at each encounter deeply. In doing so it afforded me an opportunity to connect with God, to count my blessings to see the good and less of that which had been like a thorn in my life. I started finding answers to a lot of questions that had been flooding my mind, that had been threatening my sanity, and that had been robing my peace.

“All that is required to realize the Self is to be still.” Sri Ramana Maharshi

In the stillness of it all I was on a journey of self re-discovery because it is not a destination, but a journey of different layers and levels. It will require your commitment, intentionality, and truthfulness to self. You would marvel at what you will find out about yourself, your true authentic self, funny enough is your spirit has always known it, it is just your mind, thoughts, and eyes that have to come to the party and at times the mortal mind can not encompass the totality of your whole being at once. You need to gift yourself the gift of time, in order to learn in the Stillness.

Even the bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:7 “A time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak”. It is my desire that you will find the time, schedule time, allow time to be still and some time to remain still when it takes to do resolve whatever that needs to shift in your life. Our lives speak to us, God speaks to us through every moment, and everything that happens to us or we come across, be still and listen in!
